Bio

Linda L. Lay received her B.A. degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of California, Irvine. After graduating, Ms. Lay worked at two civil litigation firms—Bohm, Matsen, Kegal & Aguilera and Sanders Browning—in the Orange County area as a legal assistant. Then Ms. Lay attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. While in law school Ms. Lay was active in school organizations such as Family Law Society, Asian Pacific American Legal Student Association, Animal Legal Defense Fund, and Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego.

Ms. Lay was also a law clerk at a family law firm, Hochvert & Celinski, and a personal injury firm, Banker’s Hill Law Firm, which aided her to become well rounded in different areas of law. Additionally, Ms. Lay worked as a certified legal intern at the County of San Diego Public Defenders Office and Dependency Legal Group of San Diego, representing abused and neglected children. Ms. Lay also worked at the law school’s admissions office as a work-study student to an Interim Associate Director of Admissions.

Ms. Lay received her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2012 and was admitted to the State Bar of California in December 2012. Afterward, Ms. Lay worked as a volunteer attorney at the Children Law Center of Los Angeles representing children in the field of dependency law. It is interesting to note that, while in law school, Ms. Lay worked at least two jobs at a time in order to hone in on practical skill sets before graduating.

Ms. Lay went on to be admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in May 2013 and began working at an insurance defense firm in Las Vegas. Thereafter, Ms. Lay worked at a boutique family law firm in Henderson before joining the team at Hurtik Law & Associates.

Ms. Lay practices in the area of family law, personal injury, real estate, medical malpractice, and legal malpractice. Ms. Lay was also a member of the Inns of the Court and has been awarded the 50 Hour Pro Bono Honors for the last two years (2014 to 2016) her volunteer work with the Legal Aid Society of Southern Nevada. Ms. Lay was the chair for the Serving Senior Program from 2014 to 2016 under the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada Southern Nevada. This program provided assistance to the Clark County senior community to connect lawyers to draft simple wills and trusts for seniors who qualified.

Ms. Lay is admitted to practice in all Nevada State Courts and the Federal Court for the District of Nevada. The extensive experience Ms. Lay has in the practice of law, with over ten years in the legal field from a legal assistant to a practicing lawyer, enables her to communicate and be successful with resolving the disputes clients face.

Ms. Lay enjoys hanging out with her two children; her dog, Yogi; hiking; and scrapbooking in her free time.
